Is there nothing to buy?
So I was just going through the top 10 lists for the various genre's at Beatport and nothing was appealing to me. Same deal the last few weeks and there has been some thrash in the charts so it wasn't like I was just getting tired of the same stuff. I suspect its the post WMC dry spell that seems to happen each year. Whatever it is, its depressing as I keep looking for something to keep me engaged and its not quite there.
Anyway, I was very pleased to see Rose of Jericho went on sale this last week (but oddly no where on the BeatPort Charts). BT opened up with his Deus Ex Machina version at Ultra and it simply rocked my world when he dropped it. That went immediately to my crate.
It starts to roll at 2 minutes and there is no stopping it.
I'm also waiting for what I believe to be a Deadmau5 track that he dropped last May when he came to San Francisco. It was not his typical sound (I'd describe it as beautiful and euphoric instead of ripping and fun). I've been meaning to see if he's releasing under a different moniker just to see if he's branching out into different sounds. I tried to find a recording on youtube of the sound at the gig but unfortunately I came up dry. Its possible he was just going freestyle with some samples. Whatever it was it was great to hear something truly new.
Also I ran across a track called Psychedelic Cowboy (for a few pesos more remix) which has a very rhythmic thrashy psytrance sound. Not my normal thing but catchy and something I'd like to hear in the middle of a hard core set to change up the feel.
Ah, Just remembered that Markus Shulz released another album under his Dakota moniker. Some great tracks on that Album (Koolhaus being my favorite)
Just a few random thoughts as I browse music.
